About Kerren

 

Kerren Berz's talents span the musical spectrum. Currently Concertmaster of the Columbus (GA) Symphony Orchestra, she has performed, recorded, and toured with the Atlanta Symphony, the Harlem Festival Orchestra, and the Nashville Chamber Orchestra, whose "music without boundaries" mission produced critically acclaimed performances and recordings of music by Aaron Copland, Conni Ellisor, and Jay Ungar, among others. 

 
 

As a well-respected pop music performer/arranger, Kerren is featured on albums by Outkast, Goodie Mob, Kelly Price, Speech, Donell Jones, Pink, Sinead O’Connor, Diane Durrett, Joey Sommerville, and on the smash hit “Survivor” by Destiny’s Child.  In live performances, she has shared the stage with many legends, including The Eagles, Rod Stewart, Page and Plant, Earth Wind and Fire, Joni Mitchell, Donna Summer, Judy Collins, Tony Bennett, Johnny Cash, and Ray Charles. Other live performances include Broadway touring companies of Phantom of the Opera and Chicago, the premiere of Twist — An American Musical, and a national concert tour with Amy Grant and Vince Gill. Kerren’s ensemble, Sonic Essence, plays weddings, recitals, and other special occasions throughout the year, including a concert with reknowned jazz percussion ensemble “M’Boom!”

Always passionate for advocacy, Kerren is a proud and active member of the Atlanta Federation of Musicians and is a voting member of The Recording Academy, through which she has participated on nominating committees for the annual GRAMMY Awards.
